A Web Catches the Light — Improvisations in C♯ Aeolian & B Aeolian

2 comments on A Web Catches the Light — Improvisations in C♯ Aeolian & B Aeolian

I ended up recording two improvised pieces in one day — a short part I, followed by an even shorter part II. It was a story of paradox that felt like it needed to be told — complex interconnectedness co-existing with entrapment and entanglement. They both felt like a tangled web, the first one catching the light and shimmering in the breeze, the second one getting buffeted by stormier weather, but still holding strong, like spiders’ webs often do. Distorting, stretching and changing shape, but always maintaining its integrity. A web is often invisible until it catches the light or dew — just like how so many things in life are not evident until you look at them from a different perspective, and suddenly you see something that was there all along. And just like how I didn’t know either of these pieces were in me until I played them.

What a beautifully layered and evocative reflection this is 🎶

You’ve taken something as technical as modes and improvisation and infused it with such poetic depth. The metaphor of the web is especially striking—delicate yet resilient, invisible yet ever-present until the light reveals it. It perfectly mirrors the nature of creativity itself: something within us, waiting for the right moment to emerge.
